So a few weeks ago I made a thread about my external that was constantly disconnecting, and I ended up scanning it with data lifeguard and it said there were too many bad sectors so I RMA’d the drive, and the new one just arrived and I scanned it too, and the same error came up. The new one hasn’t disconnected yet, but I dont want to keep a drive that has bad sectors on it. Can anyone suggest something that will help? At this point I’m ready to just return the drive if I can and try another company or somthing.
Have you done anything with the drive other than test it? You can use DLG and format by writing zeroes to the drive and then retest it. Sometimes that clears up bad sectors.

Ya I’ve already transferred my backup onto it, but that’s no big deal, it’s still stored on another drive too. I’m re-running the scan now, it has about 2 and a half hours left on it, and if it comes up with bad sectors again I’ll try writing zeroes on it. Thanks for the tip.
