Time machine with Sierra

I would like to ask someone regarding the time machine availability as the following condition, which is the similar to me.

  1. MacBook Pro 15 inch (Late 2016)
  2. Sierra MacOS 10.12.3
  3. USB-C HUB (Tuneware), Apple USB-C to USB and the USB-C to USB MicroB cable

The general use is fine to work like to mounting, reading and writing. However, the time machine has issue. after preparing, the backup is starting all the time. But suddenly stopped at the beginning with the clipping sound like the sudden disconnection now.

I tried over and over again. The situation is not changed.

I feel like the less power supply from MacBook Pro…

Do you have any advices?

If your WD Passport works with Apple Time Machine when connected directly into your system (No Hub) then it could very well be an issue with the USB Hub. If so, then there’s not much that can be done other than replacing the Hub or using your unit directly.
