Time Machine, Mac OS Sierra, and MY BOOK DUO & ENCRYPTION

I am considering buying a MY BOOK DUO, using it as a RAID-1 Time Machine backup and I want to encrypt the files.
When you first select a Volume to be used by Time Machine you are asked if you want to encrypt the files. You select yes and then Time Machine begins to prepare the volume for backup. What is great about using Apple’s software for this is that you do not have to power down the volume or restart your computer to enable the security (encryption) on your hard drive. You can keep your Mac running and your hard drive mounted and powered up. But if you put your display to sleep (using system preferences energy saver or display hot screen corners) that will be enough to lock your system and the Time Machine hard drive. When you wake your computer the login screen is displayed and you enter your security password. Time Machine will ask you for the security pas**strong text**sword before it mounts your Time Machine Volume. This is how it works for me now using a single hard drive as a Time Machine volume.

So my question is this: has anyone used a MY BOOK DUO like this?? Does it work like I believe it should work?

Hi,

As long as you’ve setup RAID 1 prior to starting Time Machine as backup, you’re good to go.

Do you have a “MY Book Duo” set up like this?
