The clip doesn't say an MP3 is corrupted

I have a few MP3’s and the clip doesn’t play them. It just sits with time counter of 0. It turns out the the files are corrupted. I wish the clip would be more user friendly and indicate the file is bad instead of sitting like a lame duck. I also have to restart the device because it won’t play any files after hitting a bad file.

You are actually very lucky. I have seen Hundreds of players that were basically bricks, requiring formats, or worse.  All because of corrupt files. The soft reset (despite being annoying) is not so bad in the face of formats, or running the chkdsk utility. Just connect to your player and delete those files.
