I’ve connected my My Passport Ultra to my PC and set it for hourly backups. It made a backup of all the files I asked for but now it doesn’t backup new files, stating “Doel is vol” (Target Drive is full) even though there is still 576 GB available.
Any idea what could be wrong?
Hello,
Welcome to the WD Community.
If you are using the WD Smartware, as a recommendation, try reinstalling the software and run the backup again.
Also make sure that you are not running multiple backups at the same time with a different software.
I’m certainly not running multiple backups with different software. But I will try if reinstalling solves the problem. Thanks.
Hi,
I have a brand new My Book 8TB, I have installed and updated all included SW (Smartware is not included) and I receive the same error - “Target full”. I have uninstalled/re-installed the applications… nothing changed.
I have ‘Windows 10’ Version 1511 OS Build 10586.420 and I use ‘WD Backup’ Version 1.5.5953.
I asked myself - should I use BitLocker or the HW encryption from WD and I have chosen your solution just because I don’t want to depend on OS.
But it gives me problems from the beginning…
I know we are not business customer but not providing answers to end users in months seems a bit strange to me.
Please search “Target Full” on your site - there are two topics - none of them being solved.
Could you please help us?
Thanks.

I uninstalled my WD smartware. Found out that there also was an old version of it from my previous WD drive still running, so I also uninstalled that one
Thanks, for your suggestion but in my case - Smartware is not provided and I have a fresh install of Windows 10.
Furthermore, when drive is encrypted with WD Security, Windows is suggesting me to format drive immediately after login. I give up - I will use ‘BitLocker To Go’ from Windows to secure the drive (works only in Windows 10 and above) and I will make manual backups
