Dear all
I’d like to get info from people having similar experiences, and solutions if possible.
I put an SD card in the drive coming back from a day’s shooting, using it for the first time due to Corona. I put the card in a went to bed, the next day the drive was fully discharged but I did not find any of the pictures that were transferred, even though I had seen a few hundreds megabytes being transferred by the time I left it on the table. Next morning I had to recharge it and start over.
Also I can see the unit in the iPhone app, but it seems to start transferring over an over, as if it started every time from scratch when I looked at what it was doing.
Also, it’s quite slow, hours to transfer a few GBs of pictures. Is this normal? When it had finished I could not see any warning it had completed the task, does one need to look through the app all the time?
Finally, some questions for the future. If I put the same card after next shooting, will it recognize it has already backed up yesterday’s pics and start transferring only the new ones?
Thanks in advance
Maurizio
Yeah . . .when transferring SD cards, I would definitely have the unit plugged into power. Less to worry about.
I don’t think the procedure should take hours. A long time to be sure. . .but not hours (probably relates to the dead battery)
I believe it will create a new directory for each day, with subdirectories for each SD card you copy. It won’t upload dups
When I transfer files, I see a blinking blue activity light (I believe the four lights on the corner; number based upon progress). YES, I consider the feedback pretty weak.
I normally verify using a PC. You can verify using the APP; but transfer time will be impacted by your wifi upload speed

Thanks for the interesting insight.
The procedure took hours also because it seemed to restart even time I looked at it. It might well be it is showing progress as restarting from zero while instead continuing the transfer, but then it would have really taken many hours. Also, during the process it did not show any partial transfers in the directory view, is it normal that it show all the folders only when the transfer is complete?
No earthly idea.
Never tried to look at it before transfer is complete. . . because the transfer should not take hours
I verify the files using a PC because. . . well. . . I am not a trusting guy; and accessing the device through the WD app has it’s own issues.
I never see the restart behavior you are looking at.
So something is wrong.
Unfortunately, I don’t know what.
Corrupt SD card perhaps?
I imagine the SD card is in a standard format?
