I have had my WD MyBook Essentials 1tb HDD for a couple years now and haven’t used it for a while. I plugged it in and connected the usb cord today and the drive started as normal, but as the drive spins the “lock” indicator on the face is lit up, then starts blinking constantly and the drive will not show up in Disk Management or My Computer. I’ve tried to download the firmware update, but the installer wizrad keeps telling me to rescan and goes no further, no matter how many times I click it. I have A LOT of information that I don’t want to lose. I am completely at a loss and have no idea how to proceed… SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you able to test the drive with a different USB and power cable?
Also make sure to test the drive on a different computer.
