Hi, I’m unable to access the data on my Passport because I’m not able to install Smartware on my Mac with El Capitan. When can we expect the software to support the latest Mac OS?
The original release of WD SmartWare was available for both Windows and Mac. However, it was not a cross-platform application, and app updates were optimized for Windows starting from version 1.3 (And it’s well past 2.0 at point.)
If you created a backup using WD SmartWare on Windows, then the only way to restore your files in a Mac would be to manually copy and paste the files from the unit. Otherwise you will need a Windows-based computer.
Hi, I’ve always used Smartware for Mac to back up my data on the Mac. And now I need Smartware to work with El Capitan in order to continue having my data backed up to My Book.
WD Smartware for Mac OS El Capitan does not yet seem to be available on the Download Software for Mac. Where or when will it be available for download?
