After the Windows 7 update on 04/13/2016, Smartware and Quickview have stopped working. As a consequence, continuous backup has ceased. This seems to happen after every major Windows 7 update. I have noticed that the only fix is to reinstall a Smartware ver. from 2011. Please advise how to fix this problem so as to be able to use the current ver. of Smartware.
If the update is applied to your computer then something is affecting your overall system stability or the registry. What happens if you install the latest version of WD SmartWare directly from WD’s site instead of updating from an earlier version?
I too am having issues with Smartware and Quickview. And it also started with the latest Windows update to my Windows 7 Pro laptop. I uninstalled Smartware and downloaded the latest version. Re-booted and installed. After doing so, the Quickview icon no longer works. I then uninstalled Smartware which left Quickview running normally. Not sure what’s going on here, but since I don’t use the WD backup part of Smartware, I’m OK with not having that on my machine. The Quickview part is what I want to keep.
…the same thing. No change. The software is still inactive and not communicating with the ext. HDD.
Having the same problem. Winows 7 pro. Also the internal HD (not WD) is permanently accessed, and mom-stop LAN access. Computer slows down significantly.
WD, please provide a solution!
