Hi, I have a 1TB External Hard Disk and have locked it with a password… Problem is, I do know the password I wanted to enter but have seemed to enter it slightly wrong, just one or two letters incorrectly… I don’t know what that incorrect password is and really need to know how to unlock my drive… Formatting the hard disk is not an option! It holds years and years of important data… Please help!
You will get 5 chances then the messsage to remove password and clean the drive. Disconnect properly and unplug the drive if it is powered and wait about 5 min then hook back up. It should reset and give more chances. That’s about all the help I can offer. There is no way to reset that I kow of. Write your password out and try variations on something you missed like transposed letters upper and lower case.
