I thought one of the features of the Mybook Studio external drive was that it would power off when I shut down my Mac. I shut down and the drive appears to just go to standby mode. I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11 and have the MyBook attached using firewire. My Mac only has Firewire 400.
Yeah, that’s what it will do, because your Mac continues to send power through both the USB and the Firewire ports. The WD Drives will interpret that as the computer still being on. For the drive to go off, you will need to also disconnect the data cable.
