Bought my new 8GB clip a month or so ago and it was working perfectly, including the shuffle function, until I put some extra albums on the player.
Now when I use shuffle it will only shuffle between tracks from the album that is currently playing. This happens for all albums whether they are albums I first loaded on to the player or subsequent albums.
It’s getting a tad frustrating so I’m hoping that someone here can help me to put this right.
For the record, I’ve tried resetting the player via the 10 second holding up of the power on button but it’s made no difference.

If the shuffle is on, then you need to select “play all” instead of just playing one album. Is this what you’re doing?

My 8gb unit with latest firmware doesn’t appear to work the same as the op’s. With both shuffle and repeat off, play all plays in random order. Repeat within an album does repeat the track, but shuffle plays random on all songs on unit same as if I had selected play all from the menu. I haven’t checked repeat all within an album.
I don’t interpret this as being what it should do, but the unit appears to be working normally otherwise. Since I would only use the repeat track if at all, it doesn’t bother me much.

Are you sure play all is the same as shuffle all? Play all will go through whatever you have on there in alphabetical order, I believe.
You are correct, it wasn’t what I expected, I thought would sequence by album/track#. But since it isn’t specified I need to adjust my expectations. It now appears to shuffle correctly within an album, could have sworn it didn’t when I posted. This is a great little unit. I’m keeping my eye on the clip, if I see any signs of a problem I’ll reinforce with epoxy.

The spot to look for is right where the metal spring contacts the plastic of the clip part. My original Clip’s clip developed a crack there, but never quite broke through while I had it. No cracks so far on my newer model.
