Sansa Veiw help

I have had my sansa veiw for about a year and when i charge it, it charges. I shut it off and when i turn it on to listen to my music, its really hard to turn on. I have to leave the switch up for about 30 seconds, then do it again and it turns on. The battry is half way gone. Its like when it turns off, it doesn’t … help!?
