Sansa M250 'Synchronize to continue your music subscription', message. Help!

I have a Sansa M250 and I haven’t used it in a few months and when I connect it to my PC, it recognizes it and it connects, but then it says there was a malfunction with the device then it becomes unrecognizable. Also if I try to listen to any of the songs that are already on it, a message pops up on the player that says: ‘Synchronize to continue your music subscription’, and I cant listen to anything. I’ve tried updating the driver but my pc says I have the most up to date driver…very frustrating please help.
