Sansa has caught on fire.

I use the USB cable and charge directly from my computer. I was suprised to find that when I inserted the cord into my MP3 player smoke began to rise. I removed the cable to find the metal components red/orange hot, and the corner of the cord’s plug a brown/bronze color (probably a burn). My MP3 still works fine, but I’m afraid to charge it again.

Anyone know if I could just buy a new usb cord, or do I have to get a new MP3?

:frowning: Burning MP3s make Joe a sad person.

What happens if you plug into the AC Charger?

Wonder if your computer isn’t regulating current flow?

If you see it again, call support or return to store to get a replacement.

Possibly a short on the player?

How long did you left the Sansa Connect charging? What was your computer configuration? Was you player on when you charge it or is it off and in charging mode?
