Sansa Fuze 01.01.15 Latest Firmware Download

yea besides a cool hello/goodbye screen this update has been bad i get the white screen too. but mines still work. mines take like 3 mins to delete a video.

As a classical fan I bought the Fuze solely for the potential FLAC support. I actually put the unit away for a couple of months before this firmware release was available, as I had other players of comparable SQ and prefered good CD players anyways. I’d been watching this forum and upgraded the first day this FW was available. The moment I put on a good pair of headphones, it’s WOW! Such INCREDIBLE sound from something smaller than a CD player finally! The texture and articulation of music can be enjoyed in full, from the gripping details of the strings to the delicate flutter of the wind instruments. Thank you Sansa!

I used Linux and MSC mode to upload. One nuisance was that I had to rename about 20 percent of the files as they failed to upload with certain punctuation signs as file names. The colon “:” is the most common problem as it’s frequently used in classical titles to delineate composers or movements. I hope that it’ll be fixed in the next FW upgrade.

This firmware has been a god-send. Thank you guys so much for releasing it! I haven’t tried OGG or FLAC yet but I might give it a chance… The wrap-around scrolling works wonders on videos, especially since I have about 80 videos to scroll through.

SansaMe,

I eagerly looked forward to the firmware upgrade in order to play my OGG files.

I upgraded the firmware to Sansa Fuze 01.01.15 successfullly with no known glitches.  Everythings seems to work well including the new opening screen.

When I try to transfer OGG files to the MicroSD card in the Sansa Fuze via Microsoft Windows Explorer (my usual method of transferring files to the Sansa Fuze MicroSD card), I receive the message that the media player does not support the OGG files and the only options are to CANCEL, SKIP and SKIP ALL.

Faulty installation of the firmware?

Can I simply place the OGG files on the MicroSD card with the MicroSD in my computer rather than in the Sansa Fuze and then put the MicroSD card back into the Sansa Fuze?

Any help would be appreciated.   I did not see any other message describing this problem.

I just learned about the site.  I am very pleased that it exists.  Keep up the good work.

Thanks.

I love how the admins ignore everyone who mentions gapless playback…

I have yet to see gapless playback on any mp3 player.  They fought for it over on IRiver.  Wish they would let you know that it is difficult or impossible to do.  My guess is that it is impossible.

The Rio Karma did it years ago…but for several years it was the only one that did. People complained constantly on the iPods forum. The iPod finally supported it at least a year ago, but its very reliant on iTunes for that functionality. The tiny pause doesn’t bother me nearly as much as things like scrolling through long lists, but apparently a lot of people get upset about it.

SansaMe,

I solved my problem.

I loaded my Ogg files onto the microSD card while loaded in my computer (rather than the microSD card loaded into the Sansa Fuze).  I later put the microSD card in the Sansa Fuze and the Sansa Fuze played the Ogg files perfectly.

Many thanks for this upgrade allowing the use of Ogg files.

Embedded album art isn’t working.

Great Update.  Love the new opening and closing screens.  Is there any future plans for more wallpapers/color options in future updates?   I’m color blind and would like to see more wallpaper/color options.   I love this player.  Even my daughter who is a diehard Ipod user loves this player and wanted to trade me her 8 gig Ipod for this 4 gb player!  Of course I said no!  My wife wants one now so I’m looking for a good deal on a FUZE,  She likes the RED one I got so I’m going to buy me a 8GB FUZE and let her have this one.  The FUZE hooked up with a pair of SkullCandies is a IPOD Killer for sure.  Thanks for a great product!

To be honest, I’m quite happy with my little Fuze. I love the OGG/FLAC playback supported by the new firmware.

As has been mentioned before though, gapless playback would be really nice, even if it’s only in FLAC. Also, an option that allows you to cue up an album to play after the one currently playing has finished. Maybe even an album shuffle mode?

Here’s hoping.

Hello,

what is the difference between the AMERICAS and the EUROPE firmware?

Best regards,

Andreas

Hello,

there is an bug in the German translation for “Empty”.

Instead of the correct translation “Leer” the wrong translation is “Leeg”.

It is used e.g. in Playlists (Wiedergabelisten), GoList (Wiedergabeliste) when the list is empty.

I hope it will be changed it in the next release.

Thank’s,

Andreas

Bugs Fixed:

Music playback

“Play Previous” option is missing after returning from Video, Photo, Podcasts and Audiobooks playback

I don’t know about anyone else, but with the update, but my “Resume” no longer works.  I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and now I have to fast forward to get to the spot where I stopped — and that’s frustrating.  Can this be fixed?

Why don’t you try an audio bookmark? Down on the scroll wheel while listening to the file then scroll to bookmark. Then next time you can start where you left off.

I’m pretty sure it’s just FM radio support.

It appears that I don’t have a bookmark feature on my fuze, at least it is not showing on this book.  However, this book came via OverDrive which downloads in chapters – Netlibrary downloads in one block.  I had never encountered this problems before.  However, I decided to reload the update, and it seems to be working okay now and goes to the “resume from this point” screen.

Thanks for quick response.

can someone please help me i downloaded the firmware and i noticed that the only way all my music shoe sup is through play all, my playlist were deleted, and my sound is messed up and this morning before i updated it, it was working fine. Its like every song i play the voice is all the way down and it is just instrumentals and i toyed with the equalizer but to no avail.

Only my goto ones were gone, but then I only had one other playlist and it was still there.  You may need to receate them.

For the sound, this is very basic but worked for someone else who was only getting instrumentals and no lyrics, is the earbud plug all the way in?  Maybe pull it out and press it in again.  Then try another one.

ah.

my input is retarded.

when i plus it halfway in it works but all the way in it fails.

thanks Sanasa

FLAC support (and other lossless codecs) is a feature that now sets the FUZE apart from the gaggle of mp3 players out there.

once live music afficianados (like myself) get word of this, i’d hope you see a serious jump in sales and more folks joining the Sansa revolution.

gapless support-

this is defianately needed but i have a hunch it’s not something we’ll see. to support it the Fuze would have to read ahead and see the gap and remove it. that seems more like a hardware than a software limitation. i’d like to be proven wrong on that by Sansa…

we don’t just need gapless for these new losses codecs - this should work for .mp3 format.

when you listen to albums (like the Who’s Quadrophenia or classical music) that blend tracks together - the gap is very annoying, it interrupts the flow/rhythm.

i understand that most .mp3 players are targeted to people that listen to various tracks - but since the FUZE is so album playback oriented, this gapless thing is the biggest flaw in an otherwise solid device.

lack of gapless really make the need for a shuffle feature more evident.

and i ageeed on the file info screen reguest - that would be a very nice feature

regardless, FLAC support will save me hours of time converting into lossy formats - this is HUGE.

good work developers - the fact you guys are listening and making imporvements is what will keep the FUZE on ther market.
