Sansa Freezing

I love the sansas but they don’t last very long … here’s my issue:

I start the sansa it goes through the start up process then freezes with the splash screen (sansa icon). I tried the ‘reset’ instructions (which are actually standard restart instructions).

Someone suggested manually updating firmware but the device is not recognized by any computer.

I tried forcing to MSC which did nothing. I assume yet another SANSA has died on me but am willing to try, I won’t buy another.

Thanks, tried it but nada. I am trying every conceivable combination of holding this button, that button, left foot in, left foot out, salt over the shoulder … for $40 I would expect something to last a little longer
