Sansa Express Will Not Shut Off

I purchased the black Sansa Express 1GB in December 2007.

While listening to music this morning, the Sansa abruptly stopped working in the middle of a song.  The unit now shows “SanDisk” on the display and the navigation buttons are backlit by a light blue color.  Pressing and holding the menu button does not shut off the unit.  I’ve plugged the unit into our Vista PC, but the Sansa unit is not recognized by Vista.

I expected a much longer life on this unit!

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

Thank you.

Ken

My follow-up:

I simultaneously pressed the select and volume + buttons to shut off the unit.  I subsequently connected the unit to our Vista PC, and the Sansa unit appears to be charging now.  I feel certain that I tried the select/volume + combination earlier, but that had no effect.

Thank you.

Ken

Check the song that you were playing. Play it again and see if it recreates the same error, it could be a corrupted song file.
