Sansa Express failing to hold charge

Took the SE player off overnight charge for morning jog.  Ten minutes into the jog the sound cuts out.  Twenty seconds later it comes back, but only for a second and then cuts out again.   This continues for the duration of my exercise.  It gave me enough time to listen carefully to the one second pieces.  The radio program which I had recorded was being played in its entirety, one second at time.   So, this wasn’t a gap in recording.  The MP3 recording was complete, but was being played back one second at a time.   Returning home, I verified that the MP3 file was intact and I could play it on my computer without a problem.

I am suspecting that this is a problem with the SE battery not maintaining a charge.  The player is barely 3 months old so the battery should be in good shape.  I notice when connected to the USB port that the “charged” icon on the display seems to be random.  One minute it might show fully charged, next minute it might show empty.

This could be a isolated problem.  I have a second SE. I will try transferring the MP3 files over and see if see if the second player works OK.

The Express’s battery has a problem if it is fully discharged. If the battery is completely discharged it takes a while for it to show “charging” after it is connected to the computer. The computer may not be able to connect with the Express during this time.

I have another Sansa product and its battery does the same. I believe it isn’t unique to Sandisk products, but the low cost lithium-ion batteries in general. The lithium-ion batteries need a little boost once they have been fully discharged.

What can i do next.

What do you want to do?

You tagged onto a thread over 3 years old, with not even so much as a “I have the exact same problem” (which by the way is without a doubt the most over-used, inaccurate and non-helpful plea for assistance there is).

Please start a new thread (New Message) and describe in detail the problem you are having, your player, your OS and anything else someone may need to know in order to help you.
