Sansa e280 no files in MSC mode

Hi all, we bought a Fuze+ to replace this one, but I still need some advice on what happened, and whether or not it was a Windows update causing the problem or just something gone totally wrong with the e280.

As of two weeks ago, the e280 seems to have completely lost MSC mode, which is the only way we ever transferred files to and from the player. Now, on five different computers - two XP, one Vista and two Windows 7’s, all home and/or professional versions, all with hidden files enabled, all that used to work with the player with no problems - whenever the player is plugged in, Windows takes forever to load the “removable drive”, and when it does, it can’t be opened, since Windows throws up the error message “Please insert a disk into Removable Disk [letter]”.We even tried a different cable thinking the problem might be there, but the error is the same.

The player will load in MTP mode on all the computers, but that’s useless since the audio files on the player were all dragged and dropped via MSC, so MTP shows no files at all. The player itself works as normal, all the audio shows up and is playable and everything in general works. I also reinstalled the firmware (3.01.16A) but nothing changed, no computer can see the player in MSC mode.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

The MUSIC-Folder is hidden. Make sure your Explorer shows hidden files.

Thanks

I gave up and formatted the player, lost all the files that were on it but at least got all functionality back. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions though, they were so very much appreciated.
