Sansa Clip flash memory won't format to it's full capacity

Hello,

It is again beautiful day in Holland today and i’m trying to figure out how to format my Clip opimal.

Now when i format my 8gb capacity clip in Windows Explorer it sure formats but after checking properties of the virtual drive it says it’s formatted only to a little over 6 gb’s.

It is fat32 formatted i think. There are no hidden files i found and i also removed the default folders after hooking it up again to my netbook.

Can anyone explain to my why that is? and maybe have a solution for this?

Thank you in advance!

Kind regards,

Note that the Clip uses some of the space for operational files.  But not 2 GBs …

It’s best to let the Clip+ format itself. Settings > System Settings > Format.

Another way to format using a PC.

Sansa Clip+

  1. Turn device OFF.
  2. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.

Sansa Clip

  1. Turn device OFF.
  2. Slide the Hold switch down to Lock (orange color showing).
  3. Press and hold the center button while connecting the device to the PC.
