I own a black sansa m250 2gb but when I plug it into my laptop and it opens in windows media player it says it has 1.8gb free. I’ve formatted and everything.Why is that?
Because that all the usable space you going to get on a 2GB unit. The remaining space is reserved and used by RAM, firmware and operating files.
