Sandisk extreme portable ssd not detected by router

Bought new Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD 1TB. I need to attach it to Netgear Nighthawk router/cable modem. I have a Sandisk Extreme 500, a Sandisk Ultra USB flash drive 128GB, they work just fine. The Extreme Portable is recognized by my 8-year old Lenovo desktop, 1 YO lenovo laptop, Microsoft surface, but not the Nighthawk which has 1 USB 2.0 port. Is this a USB 3.1 gen2 issue?

Did you ever figure out how to get you router to recognize the SanDisk SSD drive?

No. Do you have a similar problem? The router is a Netgear Nighthawk C7000v2, and it has 1 USB 2.0 port for Readyshare device attachment. The router will recognize a SanDisk 500GB UAS (USB Attached SCSI) and a Sandisk Ultra USB 3.0 128GB flash drive. It will not recognize the USB 3.0 Type C attached device
