New advertising campaign on the Horizon!
The next generation of CDR!
SanDisk Cruzer Blade 16Gb Flash Drive
THE best thing since a round CDR! Now your completely uselss storage device can be used for picking your nose! You couldn’t do that with a rubbish CDR, but you can with the Cruzer Blade!
If you’re lucky you’ll get a few months write access too!
How much longer will the company refuse to accept any responsibilty for the farrago?
That’s not true. Rather:
Now all your files will be protected forever. No more accidently deletions. No more mistaken updates. No more virus infections. No more partner changes. Protected FOREVER.
all i need is a solution to fix this properly and permanently becouse im sick of buying a usb which is useless. when i read all of the comment, most of them got the same problem and why dont u justtell us the solution so everybody and be happy about it. everyone who read my comment plz dnt waste your time to write your problem ecouse we all know whatis ur problem anyway and dnt fill the page with full of the same problem. all i need is a solution to this which works 100%. i have tryed everything else such as format, drag in and out all changing in property(advance share). so what is the solution?
If it’s under warrantee return it to SanDisk and get a replacement.

Don’t you think that if anyone (including SanDisk personel) knew a solution that they would post it here?
In other words, _ there is no known solution other than returning it as defective to SanDisk and getting a replacement._
This my first Sandisk flashdrive, and it will be the last one. It has been used for only half year in my hand and now it turns to a status of “Protected FOREVER”. What a joke!
Look on the bright side, you will never loose your files on it. They are frozen in time forever.
And if you want a drive that is writable your’s is still under warrantee. Return it to SanDisk and they will send you a replacement. Obviously copy your files off of it before sending it in.
i have the same problem here. cannot return drive since it contains passwords and source code owned by my employer.
is never being able to delete those a good thing? seriously i’m tempted to take this to slashdot as sandisk does not seem to be serious about this.
I also do not understand why they do not clearly state here the problem and solution, but their customer service is much better, i would say perfect. Due to sensitive data on my drive they allowed me to damage the flashddrive before return (so I did), although it is an exception to their policy. Now a new replacement is on the way to me.
I’m pretty sure if you search the forum for “return it to SanDisk” you will find it stated numerous times.
But to state it clearly for you,
If you have a probelm with your SanDisk device and it is under warrantee return it to SanDisk. Contact SanDisk Customer Service for details.
Here are some instruction :
-Run Registry Editor (regedit).
-Navigate to the following registry key: -HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control
-Create a New Key named as StorageDevicePolicies.
-Highlight StorageDevicePolicies, and then create a New DWORD (32-bit) Value named as WriteProtect.
-Double click on WriteProtect, and set its value data to 1.

what a **bleep** is this man… we are seaking something else… not repeating same thing man…
I am just one more of MANY SanDisk users who is disadvantaged by a “read-only” flash drive. These things should be recalled and redesigned. There are SO many complaints on this forum by now that why would ANYONE want to buy one of these things?
Probably because less than 1% of the devices have problems. And the 99% of the owners that don’t have problems don’t post.
Its because most of the uasers with faulty devices don’t know what to do and dont know to post in your forum. You CHEATS sandisk people.
Iam a computer parts sellerand i know how many i got returned back to my shop.
“Its because most of the uasers with faulty devices don’t know what to do and dont know to post in your forum.”
A good point.
“Iam a computer parts sellerand i know how many i got returned back to my shop”
How many do you sell in a month’s time and how many of those get returned?
Read that less than 1% of thiese things fail?
have had a 32gb micro sdhc for a week, suddenly came up write protected?
tried all sorts of things,
eventually by loading it into a cheap camera I formatted it.
Back into PC! Write protected!
well I got the **bleep** thing for £10, so cheap I bought two, loaded the new, unused one in, and straight away, straight out of the box… write protected!.
less than 1% eh? and why are they so cheap?
