Hi. It was my birthday the other day, and I asked my wife for some 3TB hard drives for my server, well, she got me some WD Elements 3TB externals. I need to use the drives internally. If I were to take apart the external enclosures to get at the internal drive, would that void to warranty for the drive itself? I don’t really care if it voids it for the enclosure, I only care about the drives. Do you match the S/N of the drives with that of the enclosure, and so won’t be serviced separately? Thanks!
Opening an external drive without permission from WD does void the warranty.
