My clip was washed in the washing machine. It works butitkeeps trying to Lock and is sluggish taking commands.
I thought if I could reload the firmware it might help. Is it possibe to just reload.?

That won’t help. unfortunately, you may in your haste worsened the problem by turning it on.

When you discovered the problem, the absolute last thing you should have done was turn it on ot see if it still works. You should have instead shook all the water out of it you could, then sealed it up in a bag of dry white rice (no Uncle Ben’s please) or other dessicant and leave it in there in a warm place for at least a week to dry it out. Then, and only then should you attempt to turn it on! In these cases, patience is a virtue. 
Best advice, if the player only recently came from the wash: put it in a warm location like a laundry room FOR DAYS to let any remaining moisture evaporate. Of course, do not use the player in the meanwhile. Hopefully, this will help.
