My Redmi Note 3 is not able to get a stable connection going with my My Passport Wireless. I keep getting an “Authentication problem” and am repeatedly prompted for the Wifi password. If i disable the need for a password, it gets stuck trying to obtain an IP address.
My laptop and a colleagues OnePlus seem to connect just fine. Considering my phone has no issues connecting to any other Wifi endpoint, i am quite surprised. Things i tried with no success so far.
- Tried all security options including “no security”.
- Tried using static IP address to bypass DHCP
- Reset the My Passport device twice to see if that would make any difference
- Tried setting the WiFi channel explicitly to 5 and later to 7
There was an article suggesting connecting through a router for a Motorola phone connectivity issue. This is unfortunately a no-go since i need to use this in the field to backup camera SD cards and cannot have a router along.
Does anyone have any other suggestions i can try?
Thanks in advance,
