Question for WD Mypassport 2TB for mac users

When I connect mypassport 2tb to my mac, it does its own backup (meaning that I don’t have to drag all the files into the dropbox everytime).

After backing up, could I delete all the files on my mac that I backed up? If I connect my harddrive later and back up again, will all the deleted files on my laptop be deleted on my hard drive as it backs up automatically?

If you delete the files and only have one copy you do not have a backup. A backup is at least 2 copies in different places.
