Question after formatting ext. hard drive. PLEASE HELP!

Okay… So i had problems with my passport ultra, so i formatted it it. After format it works completely fine, but I lost all of the factory softwares that was in the harddrive itself. I understand I can redownload the softwares on this site. BUT a couple of questions…

1.)Do I download the softwares to my passport?

2.)Are some of the factory softwares needed to have the 3.0 transfer speed? I ask this because after i formatted my harddrive, it is not getting a transfer rate of 15-20… I usually had 40-70… what may be the problem?

  1. You can download the software to the My Passport or your PC, it makes no difference.

  2. You don’t need to install any software to get USB 3.0 speeds. Be sure to connect the USB cable directly to the computer, avoid using USB extension cables or USB hubs. Also check if you have the latest USB 3.0 drives installed on your computer.
