I have been having problems with freezing and have posted to the “My SSD Hard Disk freezes intermittently” thread.
I have upgraded from a very stable system running a Crucial C300 128G SSD to a SanDisk Extreme 240G - basically for the extra space.
I have had a very strange problem whilst trying to install the Intel SATA RAID Driver.
If I try to run the program from the SanDisk SSD (ie. the program is in a folder on the Sandisk SSD) it ask if “I want to allow this program to make changes to this computer” - I respond with a “Yes” - and it then pops up a window telling me “Setup.exe has stopped working”
If I move the setup exe to a different drive it installs just fine.
It’s absolutely repeatable - fails every time on the SanDisk - works fine on any other drive.
Other drivers have installed ok from the Sandisk SSD.
System is…
Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Memory - Corsair Vengeance 12GB (3x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
Graphics Card - nVidia GTX 460
System Drive - SanDisk Extreme 240G - Ver R201
Storage 1T Raid 1 Array, 2T Raid 1 Array
Spare - Crucial C300 128G SSD (Currentlt contains old Windows system)
All in a Fractal Design R3 Case with copious airflow
BIOS, Firmware and drivers all at manufacturers latest.
NB - No overclocking
