Hi all new here just wondered if anyone had any advice I got a 1tb portable hard drive that’s got a lot of movies music and pick on, it worked fine now when I plug it in it doesn’t come up to open on my laptop for awhile then when it does it closes it wont let me delete from it and when I try to close it it says can’t close its being used which it isn’t then when I do unplug it says please format which I don’t want to do I need everything that’s on there

it seems your drive is corrupted, unfortunately in order to make the unit operational again you will need to reformat the drive.
Or you could try data recovery software as opposed to erasing everything. Where’s the facepalm icon?
