Poor battery life on mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro after installing SSD

Hi,

I’ve installed a 480gb SSDA-480G-G25 on a mid 2010 unibody 13" Macbook Pro with 8GB of RAM running the latest version (10.11.6) of El Capitan

I cloned my previous hard-drive onto the SSD and then swapped them.  My system booted up without problems and is noticebly faster(thank you).  However my battery life has more than halved since then, I’ve gone from 4-5 hours to 90 minutes.

Activity monitor shows there are no processes taking up significant CPU time

I’ve reset the SMC without any change & checked my firmware is up to date

Spotlight is not indexing the new drive

My battery has 1056 cycles and system report states that it’s condition is normal

My fan seems to have been on more than normal and my system temperature is sitting about 71 degrees celcius with a hard drive temperature of 48 degrees

I’d welcome your advice

Hi jm1979,

Is it possible that you run a SMART report for us and send us the result ? We want to see if the drive is doing anything in background and causing more power usage.

Do you have/recommend any specific(free) tools for getting the SMART report?

Thanks
