Thank you Mr_Moose for spending the time to see if you can replicate the problem.
I tried the latest firmware and some other firmware that SanDisk sent me today to no avail.
What’s disappointing is I paid money for a product that does not appear to fully live up to its claims.
“Supports MP3, WMA, protected WMA, WAV, and Audible files”
A primary reason I bought this unit is for WAV file support (uncompressed, lossless audio). If the Marketing claim said it would not play back WAV files sampled at 48 kHz without problems when the display shuts off, I might not have bought this unit.
I don’t know why the audio is so messed up when the display shuts off but I’m hoping SanDisk will be able to find out the root cause.
In terms of FM recording with the Sansa Express, the audio is sometimes messed up as well when the display shuts off. The Sansa Express produces WAV files sampled at 32 kHz.
I’m willing to wait for a fix if SanDisk is committed to identifying and fixing the problems. I sent in my original unit via RMA. The replacement unit has the same problems.
Thanks again for your time and help,
