Permission problem using MyBook 1280 as NAS

Hello,

I have a WD MyBook 1280 attached to an ASUS RT-AC68U router that is shared with two Macs running El Capitan 10.11.6. The drive itself is formatted HFS+ as there are only Macs on the network.

I’m having problems with permissions between the Two Macs. It seems that we can’t open or copy files to MyBook between the two computers.

All users have R/W privileges on MyBook through the router. The specific message is “Items can’t be copied because you don’t have permission to read them”. When I look at “Sharing & Permissions” via Finder it says “You have custom access”.

I’m at a loss as what to do at this point. Can anyone help?

Hi, if you connect the drive directly to a Mac computer and the drive behaves as expected then most likely the router operating system is changing the permissions, take a look in the router user interface and see if there’s anything that allows to set the permission.

Thank you, I’ll give that a try. Everything works as admin so it must have something to do with that.
