I just bought a Passport (PC) for the 500 GB HDD on my Asaus G60JX is full. I was reading that the e-sata would be faster than my 2.0 USB; if that’s the case, which e-sata cable should I buy for I found there are different types?

It is not recommended to connect an external drive with e-sata cable.
