Passport causes computer to crash

I have a 1TB Passport Essential SE for Mac with about half of the memory filled. I was trying to format it to work on my ps3, and I enabled RAID with MS-DOS format on it through disk utility. Immediately after doing so, my computer screen froze and an error message appeared telling me to turn my computer off. Now, whenever I plug my hard drive into my mac laptop, it causes the same message to appear. Strangely enough, I tried plugging it into a dell desktop computer, which said the device was working fine. Any ideas how to fix this problem with the hard drive so that it will once again work on my mac computer?

As far as I know My Book Essential is not a RAID drive it only has one HD inside. Try formatting it FAT32 on the Dell then see if it works.

How can I format it in that way? And is there a way to do this and save the data on it ?

You need to save the data on another location before formatting the drive, I would honestly caution you about doing this because it would be at your oun risk, I have read in WD web site this drives are not recommended for Raid setup.
