I know this is not normal, but I can barely copy a small file to the 1 TB WD passport. I am not new to WD, and have been buying their drives for many many years now. But this is totally rediculous. I have a DELL laptop and i am connecting through 2.0 or 3.0 USB. Same results either way. Tried with another Vaio laptop, with the same results. Could it be the cable which came with the drive? I would be very disappointed if it was, since this is a brand new drive and cable. Just plugged it in a couple of days ago and I am still trying to make it work, but with the same results… Can anyone help please. Thank you.

Try connecting the drive to another computer to verify if you get the same results. Also just for troubleshooting purposes you may try another USB cable.
You can also run a diagnostic on the drive using WD DLG.
