I am not a WD expert. I used a Maxtor and MyBook externals hard drive; they are like big USB thumb drives. My MyBook failed, so I installed the suspect hard drive it to a WD Element enclosure; two computers could not recognize it. I did not feel the spinning motion. Perhaps the hard drive is bad, so I bought a new 1 TB WD Blue Caviar hard disk and installed the new hard disk into the enclosure. Two computers failed to recognize the WD Elements/1 TB WD Blue Caviar combination. Did others have this problem? Am I missing a RAID driver? Where to download the correct driver? The Download section for WD Blue Caviar does not include a RAID driver, so I am confused.
I solved this problem by re-seating the PCB of the WD Element enclosure and the SATA hard drive. This simple problem caused me much grief.
Hi, I am glad that you where able to fix the problem and thanks for sharing the solution.
