Stop whining, you decided to buy the wrong drive just because you liked the box.
VCDs are industry standard now, even HP has them on the Simplesave drives. Get used to it ot read the USER MANUAL before you cry like a candyless baby.
I don’t see anything in the Terms of Service or Usage Guidelines about having a “right” to have a final comment.
The topic was closed (assumedly) because neither of us were sticking to the Guidelines… to prevent a bad situation from getting any worse… like what happens on any other internet forum.
That’s the job of any forum operator, whether the title’s “Moderator” or “Manager” or “Big Kahuna” – to keep things within the Standards and to stop things from getting out of control.
Yes, I didn’t
Respect people as individuals by keeping your tone positive and your comments constructive.
But let’s be honest here… if the topic hadn’t been closed due to the standards being violated, there would have been very little respect and little positivity in your response to Bill, right? The one you couldn’t make because the thread was closed?
And in your “Bye bye” post, you bemoan the fact that you didn’t get an answer from WD about whether they were going to remove the VCD from future drives, earlier. But there are three things to point out:
Bill has posted numerous times that WD has no plans to remove the VCD in the near future… he’s starting to sound like a broken record.
This forum is user-to-user, with Bill managing it for WD. There’s no obligation (or expectation) for a WD representative to step in and answer any and all questions. It’s not tech support: “Welcome to the WD Community! Western Digital (“WD”) provides the WD Community as a service to its users and customers, to help them exchange ideas, tips, information, and techniques related to our products.” Exchange information and ideas amongst users and customers, not a 1-1 conversation with WD staff.
Even if you were going to get a direct answer from Bill, or another member of the WD staff, you’re not the only one posting here… there’s a queue of people who’ve posted ahead of you and WD has other responsibilities and only so many hours in a day… the response was not likely to have been immediate… in fact, chances are if we hadn’t gotten out of line in frustration with each other, it might have been even longer before Bill saw your post(s)
