New Laptop Detects My Passport but NOT SMARTWARE files

When I originally used MyPassport to back up my old laptop, I did so to move the files to a new laptop.  I’ve now learned that this is a manual process - MyPassport will no create the file structure I had.  OK - bummer, but now even worse - the new laptop does not even detect the smartware where the files were!

on the original laptop, MyPassport showed up as 2 drives - E -with WD Unlocker (not used) and F with Smartware, where my files are,   Now on the new laptop - “F” is not showing up.

HELP!

Solved my own problem. :)  On the WD site, there is a download of an update to SMARTWARE that fixes the “rare instances” when SMARTWARE doesn’t run.  I found it here: http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/wdsmartwareupdate/wdsmartware.asp?id=wdfMP30_Essential&os=win  but that’s for Windows users.  Anyway - the info says that the fix came out in July of this year.

Adding - it appears that the “Unlocker” drive that appears at first glance unlocks the smartware drive.  I didn’t know that.  So in this case, because I set a password - I have to enter it in that other drive whenever I connect MyPassport.  It’s an odd way to do things but now that I know, I know!
