Bought a new 8 gig yesterday and plugged it into the front USB port. I let it charge overnite and saw it was only up to 46%. Then moved it to a rear USB port where it’s been all day and is now registering 10%. This is a gift to a friend and I’d rather not have to get a wall charger also, especially since it doesn’t seem to be working right anyway. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
something like this happened to me when I first got my e260. Keep it plugged in charging for about another 12 hours or until it says 100% charged. I read that sometimes if a device uses a rechargeable battery that hasn’t been charged in a long time (ex: like a new Fuze sitting on a shelf for 6 months), it will need to be charged for a MUCH longer period than one in normal use would.
However, if it still doesn’t charge, I’d contact technical support. Hope this helped!
Thanks for the quick answer. Six hours later the battery reads 0% so I’m pretty sure the battery is bad. I’ll let it continue to charge overnite, which would give me about 34 hours of charging and if it’s not fully charged, I’ll take it back for a replacement.
Un plug it then slide the power switch up and hold it for 15-20 seconds. Then plug it back in. Also If your computer does not recognize the player then it wont charge so make sure you are in MSC usb mode. If the Player is actually dead, search this forum for how to force the player into MSC mode.
yeah my Fuze has been acting werid in terms of how much battery percent is left, but a firmware update should help. If your Fuze still works with plugging in your computer, I would try a firmware update, because doing that fixed my Fuze’s battery problem. I think…
But, check the firmware version by going to settings, then system settings, then info, and post the firmware version BEFORE YOU UPDATE. I can identify if you have a Revision 1, (which I have, which is the old version), or Revision 2 (newer version I belive).

The computer not recognizing the player may have been the problem. The battery was getting some charge so I was able to navigate and switch the Fuze to MSC mode. When I plugged it back in my OS {XP SP3} detected the device for the first time. I’ll find out later if the battery is charging properly. As for the firmware, the version is 02.01.09A. Thanks, guys. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
Ok yours is a Revision 2. post back when you tried the firmware update.

The Firmware has no bearing on the players ability to charge, it can and does effect the battery life, but it really makes no difference with charging. The USB mode, is definitally more important.

When I did the firmware update, it fixed my battery problem, so I’m just suggesting that he should try the same thing, and see if that fixes that as well. (Not trying to argue here.)
Update, two hours later: it’s fully charged. The USB mode was the answer. Thanks, folks.
Mine isn’t charging etheir it charged a little bit yesterday on my laptop but kept getting disconnected and not being reconized but then worked long enough for me to put some songs on it the i tried charging with my desk top it charged it full but i used it over night and the battery is to like 9 percet and wont charge on both desktop or lap top and i used all the usb connections i could use and even switched to msc mode and formatted (which then deleted all my songs) I also did the whole hold for 15-20 and re plug ■■■■ and its not doing anything. I know its not the computers cause my sisters ipod is charging. I am really frustrated cause i bought this thing like on wednesday!
