About 2 weeks ago, I received a Western Digital My Passport Ultra 2TB external HDD. I had been to Kansas and back, and when I got back home, the drive was running very slow. I just left it unplugged until last night(8/20/16) when I went to do a backup. Started the backup(on USB 3.0) and left it. Came to it this morning, still not done. It had only copied 2GB out of over 250GB, and was running at between 50 and 60kB/s. I stopped the backup, and accessing ANYTHING was VERY slow. I decided to check the drive on my laptop(all USB 3.0 ports) with PassMark DiskCheckup. Here’s a screenshot:
Look at “Reallocated Sector Count” and “Current Pending Sector Count”. What should I do with values that so darned high? Is the drive showing imminent failure signs? Please help. Thanks.
