Hello everyone,
I am new here and have no experience with WD 3.0 4Tb device WDBYFT0040BBK-DA. When I backed up my files and reviewed what has been backed up, instead of original file names I saw some number-letter file names, showing either 0 or 1 for Kb volume content. Tried to open but there was nothing to open. Looks like the recorded file addresses represent recovery links? I wanted to backup original files as they are stored on my laptop, so I can open and review them as stored on WD. I was using WD software for automated backup. I did not copy and paste files from laptop onto WD backup drive.
I installed the latest WD Discovery version, including tools and security apps.
Tried to find the user manual for my device but not successful.
Could anyone help me understand how my new WD works, what is actually backed up and how to open and review backed up files?
Thank you for your time and effort to help me understand proper use of my new WD 4Tb external backup drive, paired with my Lenovo T430s laptop, Win 10.

Do you have a single bay/single drive My Cloud device (the subject of the My Cloud subforum)?
The WDBYFT0040BBK-DA appears to be a WD My Passport which is NOT the same as a My Cloud device. You may want to see the dedicated subforums for WD External Drives.
