Mybook Essential drive does not appear in My Computer

At first, I connected the drive to my laptop and it worked. The WD worked properly. I played a media file of my laptop on my LCD through wifi by using Play to. Then I looked for the media file in the WD drive to play on my LCD and I found out that the drive has disappeared in My Computer.

I disconnected the drive and reconnected it many times. The drive icon still do not  appear in My Computer. I tried connect the WD drive to all the laptop’s USB ports but nothing changes. I even try to connect the WD drive with other laptops and received the same result.

When I connect the WD to my laptop, although I cannot access the WD drive, the light inside the WD drive still turn on, the WD drive still spinning(it keeps slightly vibrating since I connect it to my laptop and only stop when I disconnect it), the icon using for eject the drive still appear in the taskbar and I can eject the drive. In the device manager, the “WD Drive Management devices” also appear.

Can I fix it myself? I would like to avoid sending it back to USA and prefer to fix it in my country if it possible cause I do not live in USA. My acquaintance in  USA bought it for me.
I appreciate to receive any help.

Sorry for my bad English.

I’m using Window 7 64 bit

Hello,

I recommend that you try some basic troubleshooting.

1- Connect the power adapter to the wall directly.

2- If the computer is a desktop, connect it on the back USB port (directly to the PC, not through a hub).

3- Go to disk management, and verify if the drive shows.

Hello,

Thank you for your recommends.

I did as you said and here is what I got:

I did these steps on a desktop. I connected the drive to the USB in the back of the computer case.

Could you tell me what should I do next?
I’m looking for your reply.

Thank you
