hi, i can’t access files or use my new MyBook drive. It shows up as a CD drive with no media in disk management. I tried changing the drive letter and that doesn’t do anything. I also downloaded the lifeguard software and ran the quick test and extended test, both passed, but when tried to do a quick or full erase, the error ‘delete partitions error!’ popped up. The drive is unusable as is. I have windows 10.
also, in the lifeguard program, the WD drive’s smart status is unavailable and its capacity is shown as 0MB
What you are describing is the unit’s active encryption. If you open the CD drive you should see an Unlocker application, which should ask for your password in order to mount your unit.
