My WD Elements hard drive comes up local disk F

Hi wondering if anyone can help me?

My external hard drive keeps coming up local disk F when I plug it into any of the USB ports on my laptop, though it works normally when plugged into the USB on my Blu ray player?

Any help would be greatly appreciated its been a long week trying to figure out what’s wrong!!

Hello,

Please make sure you have the drive plugged into a wall outlet since a power strip sometimes does not provide enough power to spin up the drive properly.

Is your laptop plugged in or running just on the battery? That could also be a problem.

my wd is also doing this now and both the laptop and hard drive are plugged into power??
