I had the passport originally attached to a Macbook and was able to write files to it. I then had to switch the format to allow a PC to write to it. It is set currently to exFAT and when I try to copy files to it from another PD and I get a message that it is not allowed. If I choose to change the format it then tells me the files on the disk will be overwritten. Any ideas?
The File System is what dictates how the device is going to behave when connected to a particular system. NTFS is read-only on Mac-based systems, while HFS+ is not normally readable at all on Windows-based systems. exFAT support depends on system settings and updates, and it is not recommended unless the systems involved are Microsoft Windows 7 or later, and Apple Mac OS 10.7 or later.
