I went to Best Buy to purchase a My Passport X drive and they were out of stock, instead they sold me a My Passport Ultra 2TB as I was informed it was exactly the same thing and just that I needed to format it to work with my XBox One.
What are the differences between the two? The “My Passport X” claims it is tweaked for performance but I cannot find anything different between the two. I know they look difference physically but I’m more interested in the performance differences. I’d rather return the Ultra drive if the Passport X is much better at handling game installs and has better performance.
You can find the information on both drives from here and here, the only real reason why I think the ultra is better for gaming if the lack of smartware and the security feature which should indeed make it better for gaming. Unfortunately I do not have a Xbox One, so I can’t really tell.
The smartware and security feature are not an issue if the drive is formatted correct? The links you provided do have selling points for the hard drive but are neither specific as to what those performance tweaks are.
I’m just making sure I’m not missing out on anything and this thread could be helpful for others seeking similar information in the future. Thanks!
