My Passport Will Not Allow Me In - Need Help

I was doing a software upgrade and the power went out on it. Now only the bottom two lights come on, and my PC (Win 10) shows me the partitions that I had made, but when I click on them, it tells me to insert drive into USB Drive. I have years of backups on this drive that I do not want erased. How do I get into my drive without wiping out everything on the drive?

Drive likely got messed up from abrupt stop of no power. If you have a Win PC , google for how to scan a hard drive and fix errors. It won’t hurt a thing like reformatting can do. If you have a Mac, there must be a way to scan its drive, too.

I did a Disk Error Check, and it says “This Disk Check can not be performed because Windows can’t access the disk.” I tried this on all 4 partitions. This is a 1 TB drive, and at the time I got it, I was using Window’s XP Pro and had to break it down into smaller partitions. It also says that there is 0 bytes used and 0 bytes free on all of the partitions.

It could be bad; I just don’t know. Act accordingly.
