My Passport WD Smartware using 100% CPU

I didn’t notice it right away.

I purchased the My Passport for the purpose of automatic backups.

I checked to see that sure enough, it was keeping track of files that I manipulated - YEAH !!!

But later I noticed that the CPU utilization was 100% on one CPU (I have 2 CPUs so 50% utilization total)

This occurs all the time !!

WDFME.EXE is running 100% CPU on one CPU !!! ???

What is up with that?

indeed, smartware consumes a lot of resources from your computer.

make sure that you have the latest firmware update. That should help.
